Mayra graduated from CSU Long Beach with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. As the daughter of immigrant parents growing up in a low-income household, Mayra experienced many of the struggles that most first-generation students go through navigating the US education system. From these struggles, she developed a passion and commitment to serve her community so that others would not need to face the same hardships she had to overcome.

Prior to joining Echoes of Hope, Mayra worked in special education where she coordinated a program that helped students with special needs gain job skills and work experience.
